Jo
I live in Virginia, U.S. My ordeal started in Sep.'04. I had an anaphylactic reaction to a nurses perfume in the hospital where I work.
Since then I had 3 reactions to the same perfume on the same nurse, 2 reactions to this perfume on 2 different people in my doctors office, and reactions to 3 different perfumes since then. I am tired of hearing doctors tell me they aren't sure and they don't know what is wrong with me or that it is all in my head. I think they have done practically every test known to man and still have no answer. I am interested in getting this in a higher state of awareness. There is not even a doctor in Virginia that treats MCS, EI, or anything similar. There is one in Maryland, one in Washington DC, and some in N.C. near Duke University. I have done a lot of research on line and in the medical libraries. What amazes most is the skepticism of the doctors. I went through the whole gamut with an allergist who was bound and determined to prove to me that you can't be allergic to the smell of perfume. At this point I am completely frustrated.
Thank you for bringing global awareness to MCS.
