My only son, James Buckland, was injured by pesticides when he was very young . . . I, too, was affected by the pesticides (neurotoxic poisons) in that I suffered years of major depressive illness from the exposures to those dangerous chemicals . . . You can read my story here. Our dedicated Coordinators and many other Groups globally, are doing everything we can to gain formal Global Recognition of MCS and also to bring Awareness, Information & Education to you, the global population, as to the disastrous effects on human health & environmental health from global chemical pollution. This, together with Global Warming is very worrying indeed - we, the occupants and caretakers of Mother Earth, have polluted ourselves and everything within our precious planet. It is imperative that we all, as vitally important inhabitants of our world, do whatever we can to bring about our own education & awareness programs. We need to promote chemical free living as much as possible. Support, encourage and promote organic food production. Choose and promote chemical free means of pest and weed control. Please approach your Councils/local authorities, Leaders, Members of Parliament, neighbours, work colleagues, teachers, friends, family, media et al to stop using chemical pesticides, insecticides, weedicides (herbicides), fungicides and implement chemical free means of pest and weed control and give them the important information from this website so everyone can start making changes. Unless we drastically reduce global chemical use, our future is very bleak indeed! Don't wait until it is too late - start making changes now. We also need to look at changing what we buy - stop buying all the usual personal care products (which are chemical cocktails) which are polluting globally and harming health and choose chemical free /organic personal care products. Remember, the usual personal care products / perfumed products are a cocktail of toxic chemicals !!! For cleaning products, same applies. If you care about yours or your loved-ones health - PLEASE STOP USING TOXIC CHEMICALS! Choose chemical free, organic and/or the safe cleaning mitts which are available widely. All purpose steam cleaners are marvelous, you can clean and disinfect everything in your home as well as kill bed bugs, dust mites, fleas, flea eggs etc., and also kill weeds etc., all without the use of any dangerous chemicals whatsoever (of course you have to exercise care and caution when using steam cleaners; especially near children). See our Safer Alternatives section. We all need to care about human health and environmental health, our own health, the health of our neighbours, family and friends; and the health of our precious children and all children. And yes, we all need to care about everyone else also! Act now and reduce this heavy reliance on so many chemicals in our lives before it is way too late. We have a global society whose health systems are bursting at the seams - unable to cope with the huge amounts of sickness and disease globally and with huge waiting lists. There are so many illnesses and diseases from chemical exposures and I would ask each and every one of you to study this website carefully. See our MCS-Global Information Package and remember to look at the Cancer links - data that could help you become Aware and Informed about cancers and the chemical connection. Remember, every shop, supermarket et al are packed with a huge range of toxic chemicals; they are only interested in sales. It is up to us to protect our own health and the health of others by refusing to buy and choosing chemical-free alternatives. When the demands for these alternatives is high enough it sends a strong message to the manufacturers and suppliers; that the people are waking up and want chemical free alternatives. Be assured, our health depends on it. We must all implement chemical-free alternatives as much as possible to reduce our exposures to such a broad range of chemicals. If we apply the Precautionary Principle - we have a much greater chance for a healthy and happy global population. Every person who takes positive action will make a difference. (Grad Dip Health Counselling Convenor South Australian Task Force on MCS) Email: satfmcs(at)optusnet.com.au I first started developing symptoms of multiple chemical sensitivity in 1984 after I was exposed to sterilizing chemicals in the hospital where I trained as a registered nurse. With intermittent brain fog and memory problems, I wondered why I was suddenly too tired to get out of bed in the mornings. The skin rash and itching were so severe, at night I would scratch myself until I bled. At the same time I started to get severe depression. . . . In 2001 I decided that if I didn’t start fighting back against the chemical onslaught I might just as well lay down and die. So, together with a small group of other people with MCS, we formed the South Australian Task Force on MCS to respond to the public health crisis of chemical injury and have been lobbying for recognition of the problem ever since. Despite my giving the DOH four warnings over four years regarding my chemical sensitivity (this was prior to accepting a DOH unit), my unit was 'nuked' with a synthetic pyrethroid termiticide (quite a common agricultural poison) -- one classified by the USEPA as a possible human carcinogen -- without so much as a mild caution in terms of even basic toxicological cautions or public health warnings. As I have a Degree in Environmental Health (though with no specific training in pesticide toxicities), I have heavily researched the effects of pesticide poisoning and have started developing this website and Support Group. The Support Group will be called, simply, Poisoned People. Keep an eye on my site as I add a great deal of toxicological data, links and stories, including copies of letters and emails from me to DOH, and from DOH to me (what little there are of these!). You will find out what reputable scientific research has to say about pesticides (and other chemicals like weedicides), where to go to get help with your injuries and inquiries, and what I have been told by people poisoned by uncaring bureaucracies. disastrous effects on human health & environmental health and the fact
that MCS is not formally globally recognised; and has spent a great deal

website as part of our Awareness, Information, Education & Recognition

Years earlier, (even though at the time Layla had
no idea what caused this), Layla was affected badly by pesticides et
al (neuro-toxic poisons) in that she suffered emotional problems and major
depressive illness; wherein she was placed into a Psychiatric
Hospital and given a cocktail of psychiatric medications and was also
forcibly given approximately 30 Electro Shock Treatments.
North Queensland Coordinator  Neil Reynolds Website: ME/CFS/FM Support Far North Email: nqldcoordinator(at)mcs-global.org Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, ME is not tiredness or extreme tiredness, but a severe flu-like illness that is usually precipitated by a virus, commonly glandular fever or Ross River fever in Queensland. Symptoms patients may suffer include headaches, memory and concentration problems, sore throat, muscle and joint pain, irritable bowel syndrome, disturbed sleep, exhaustion after minor effort, food allergies/ sensitivities and sensitivity to bright light and noise. ME is also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome -CFS-......more on CFS, Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome -CFIDS- (mainly in the USA) and Myalgic Encephalopathy (??)....more on ME Fibromyalgia (FM): (patients suffer similar symptoms to CFS) is an increasingly recognized chronic pain illness which is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal aches, pain and stiffness, soft tissue tenderness, general fatigue and sleep disturbances. The most common sites of pain include the neck, back, shoulders, pelvic girdle and hands, but any body part can be involved. If I can help anyone who has been chemically injured, please contact me. Both my wife Glenda and I are dying slowly of toxic poisoning from my handling of the SR51 sealant used on the Deseal/Reseal fuel tank maintenance program on the F-111's at Amberley outside of Brisbane near Ipswich. I handled the drums as a Stores person from 1982 -1987, plus Glenda would handle my dirty work clothes covered in chemicals and sealant every day and place them in the washing machine. However the chemicals never left the washing machine and glued to the bowl, just waiting for another load of clothing to wash and contaminate. Glenda now suffers a number of conditions, yet the Air Force, although admitting liability back in 2001, don't want to start looking at the families involved and who are dying or suffering like us every day. Glenda was not able to have any children and to top that off, had to have a hysterectomy at only twenty-nine, while we had tried to start a family during the five years at Amberley. During my twelve years as a Supplier or Stores person, I handled over two hundred chemicals, fertilisers, herbicides, acids, oxides, gases, sealants, powders, gels, oils and many other toxins, dioxides, radioactive items etc and never once did the RAAF give me any protective clothing, breathing equipment, gloves, over boot covers or headwear covering. We have no social life as I suffer so many allergies due to the chemicals, so we just exist and not live, while we just wait to die. I can't work due to neurological problems and orthopaedic problems and had to finish working back in 1996, while Glenda had to also stop work and become my Carer. I was working in a vineyard at Wakool in October 1999 when I got sprayed. My life will never be the same. I was working in the vineyard for approximately five months before I got sprayed. The day it happened I was working with the leading hand de-budding vines. The vines we were working in run from row 1 to row 123. At 10.00am we were close to the top of row 68/69 and stopped for morning tea. We had only sat down for some 2-3 minutes when the owner of the property arrived in an octopus double lane sprayer down row 70/71 and sprayed us. The thick vapour was impossible to escape and the smell was repugnant. The owner quickly took off down the next available row and left the property. I do not believe that this incident was an accident. The owner knew exactly where we were working. He had not been spraying all morning and why would you start spraying in the middle of the patch. I was so disgusted that I expressed my anger to the leading hand and left my employment the same day. Several days after being sprayed and I was eating more and still losing weight. Five weeks after being sprayed I woke and could not manage to put my shoes and socks on to go to work. By lunchtime that 9th day of December 1999 I was quadriplegic. . . . To connect Chronic Pain Sufferers with others, so that they might have the opportunity to enjoy the company of those who suffer from similar problems and not be left feeling isolated or alone in their pain. To provide Chronic Pain Sufferers their families and caregivers with accurate information, and resources, so as to reduce the life changing issues related to the disorder and enhance their understanding, and thus, ability to manage their own problems. To provide Chronic Pain Sufferers with options in respect of useful activity, thus enhancing their feelings of self-esteem. To act as a Focus Group for Health Service Providers who express an interest I the area of Chronic Pain Management.
