It is with much sadness that we inform you of the passing of Nancy Westrom on March 6, 2007 after a short illness with breast cancer. She leaves behind her husband, brother and two daughters. Nancy is best remembered for her many years of devotion to the compiling of The Safer Travel Directory. The directory will continue under the care of her family. Nancy will be greatly missed.

Nancy Westrom compiled the Safer Travel Directory out of her need to find safe lodging while traveling. She has sensitivities to chemicals found in carpeting, wallpaper, new furniture, cleaning products, and pesticides. This condition is called Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, or MCS.

She is not alone. Thousands of others have the same problem to varying degrees.

Nancy was frustrated by the difficulty she had in finding lodging that didn’t make her ill. While staying in typical motels, Nancy experiences a variety of disturbing symptoms, such as disabling muscle and joint pain, and painful headaches. This travel guide was created out of her frustration with most motels. The guide is for people with chemical sensitivities and those who are concerned about their health. It lists safe motels, hotels, vacation, and real estate to rent and buy.

Is your perfume or fragranced products causing harm to your health and the health of those around you?

The myriad of chemicals, colognes, perfumes, scented candles, potpourri, pesticides, cleaning and/or laundry products negatively affect an increasing segment of the population on a daily basis. From schools, medical, lodging, recreation venues, events/functions, and government meetings, industries are changing polices regarding chemicals in an effort to protect the health of the public. These changes create awareness and offer safe accessibility to the chemically injured and/or persons with other life threatening disabilities.
